Amsterdam-Centrum

The Amsterdam-Centrum district is the old center of the city. The main square in this district is De Dam. De Dam is the location where the first dam in the river was built around which the entire city was built. When looking at the below map (Amsterdam anno 1538) you get a clear overview of Amsterdam Centrum district.

The district itself has expanded some more than this map, but the basic shape is still easy to recognize in the current map of amsterdam.
